We have all heard about Artificial Intelligence and how it's changing the world. The early stage of Artificial Intelligence was started by classical philosophers who attempted to describe the process of human brain thinking as the mechanical manipulation of symbols. Thus they created programmable digital computers. The idea was the possibility of developing an electronic brain. Artificial Intelligence or AI was founded by Jhon McCarthy in 1995. He co-authored the document that invented the term "artificial intelligence" (AI) and was very influential in the early development of AI
AI is not completely developed we still don't know the possibilities of what a machine can do. It is changing the world for us by decreasing human efforts. AI is now driving cars for us and it is possible that very soon AI will grow food for us or maybe even take our jobs completely.
AI is developing rapidly, it has almost freed humanity from the burden of repetitive work. Ai was created to decrease human efforts but will it be worth it if the robots will take our jobs. According to a report by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development predicts that 66 million jobs are highly automated and claims that 70% of jobs will be automated over 15 20 years.
Jeff Bezos the well-known E-commerce giant Amazon's Founder said he's not worried about robots taking over human jobs. As a matter of fact, He is very optimistic and he claims that AI will be helpful, and it will make people happier. Whereas the owner of Tesla "the company that has introduced automated cars through AI chips" Elon Musk said, “We are headed toward a situation where AI is vastly smarter than humans. ... He even described AI as an 'existential threat' to humanity".
So the question arises is whether Artificial Intelligence is a threat or a Helpful hand to us? We don't know it yet and we will find it out according to time. In some cases, AI has been proven to be very helpful to the human species but it can also play the role of disaster very well. If we just talk about the present situation and not think about the future we can think of AI as an asset to humans. It is everywhere we use AI on a daily basis for everyday tasks. Whether on your phone using Siri or if you have Amazon's Alexa, they both use AI to complete tasks and answer your questions. Facebook, Netflix, amazon prime and most of the apps use AI to create suggestions according to our viewing preferences. It has definitely lowed the human efforts and helped organizations in cost-cutting as well. AI uses a wide-ranging tool that enables people to rethink how we integrate information, analyze data, and use the resulting insights to improve decision-making.
AI is being used in every field whether it's Finance, National security, Surveillance, Health care, Criminal Justice, Transportation, Retail, Fashion, Manufacturing, Production, Agriculture, Framing, Chatbots, and almost everywhere. In a blink of an eye, you can sell and purchase your stocks or your products. In health care, AI “predicts in advance potential challenges ahead and allocates resources to patient education, sensing, and proactive interventions that keep patients out of the hospital.
We have all seen Robots taking over Humans in movies where people are commanded by robots. But the real opportunity of AI will be to unleash the full power of human intelligence. Rather than treating humans like inefficient robots, we can use them to better leverage our uniquely human skills such as leadership, adaptability, and creativity are coming to the fore. As Picasso once said: “computers are useless: they can only give you answers!”. Only humans can understand the full context of what’s not working well in business processes and functions, and have relevant suggestions on how they could be improved. Or to put it another way: the most important thing in business is… knowing what’s important!
There is only one area where the power of human intelligence shines: innovation. It’s a fundamentally human-oriented process that requires coming up with hypotheses, creating experiments, evaluating complex results, and scaling up new ways of working. It would be really lucky for all of us if AI will never be able to compete in these areas with us. We can't figure out if AI is a threat to humanity or an opportunity, not at least right now but I think it depends upon who holds the power to control. If the power is in the wrong hand then as Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking said unregulated AI could lead to disaster and crimes against humanity. It seems like AI could be the best or the worst thing that has happened to humanity.
